This position is a non exempt position at pay grade 107.
Attendance
Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
The Utility Line Locator is responsible for the timely response to line locate requests issued from the One Call Center and assigned through the KorWeb Ticket Management System
Responsibilities
• Locates and marks underground City Pipelines with the use of duel frequency radio detention devices, probe rods and metal detectors
• Travel to sites within the City and working the majority of the time in the field
• Occasionally may have to dig to locate valve boxes or lead wires covered by dirt and debris in order to locate the pipeline
• Identify areas of high excavation activity, maintain markings, inspect for unreported damages or threats to City facility
• Meet with contractors, city work crews, builders, developers and the general public as necessary to discuss the location of City pipelines
• Documents and records essential information related to locating the City's pipelines
• Researches as-built drawings, map books, and GIS maps to verify pipeline locations in the field; obtain dimensions from plats to determine pipeline locations
• Use One Call ticket management software and applications in the field
• Updates maps with the map room as needed
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Requires High School Diploma/ GED
• No prior experience
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
