U.S. Legal & Compliance Internship Program - Summer 2024

Program Overview
Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. ("Cerberus"), a leading global alternative investment firm headquartered in New York City, N.Y., has established a summer Internship Program in its Legal & Compliance Department for current first year law students (rising 2Ls in Summer 2024) of diverse backgrounds. The summer Internship Program will run for eight-weeks in July and August of 2024.
Through the program, Cerberus will introduce interns to various aspects of corporate law practice across Cerberus' investment desks and in-house legal practices (e.g., private equity, real estate, direct lending, fund formation, compliance). The program also will seek to facilitate relationship-building between interns and external legal service providers and to offer mentorship and guidance prior to the commencement of the 2L interview season for law firm summer associate programs.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

• Current full-time enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with an anticipated graduation date of 2026
• Seeking diverse backgrounds of current first year law students (rising second year students/2Ls in Summer 2024) to participate in our legal scholar's summer Internship Program
• Demonstrated track record of undergraduate and law school success, with a challenging and varied undergraduate course load, and a 1st term law school GPA of at least 3.0 (or equivalent) (applications may be submitted before first term grades are available however only those candidates with a first term GPA of at least 3.0 (or equivalent) will be considered for the program)
• Prior work experience or non-academic experiences that demonstrate a commitment to Cerberus values of diversity, inclusion, teamwork, determination, intellectual curiosity, corporate social responsibility and/or national service for the benefit of the U.S. or its allies

Program Details:

• Duration: 8 weeks (anticipated July- August 2024)
• Compensation: $3,250/week, plus a housing stipend of up to $2,500, and reimbursement of reasonable and documented travel expenses
• Format: Interns will rotate through different subgroups of the Cerberus Legal & Compliance Department and participate in weekly seminars and an end-of-summer case study (run in conjunction with Cerberus' wider college and graduate student Internship Program)

Application Process:
Applicants may apply to participate in the Legal & Compliance Internship Program beginning on November 17, 2024, and applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. (NYC time) on January 5, 2024. Interviews will be conducted with candidates during the ensuring period and offers will be extended to a final set of candidates on or around February 13, 2024.

• Personal Statement - no more than 500 words in total, which is responsive to the following prompt: "Cerberus' values the contributions of team members who demonstrate drive, determination and resiliency when seeking to overcome obstacles and/or solve complex business challenges. Please describe an event, circumstance or experience in your life that best illustrates how you have demonstrated these qualities when confronted with a difficult obstacle or challenge, the outcome of your efforts (whether successful or not), and what you learned from the experience."
