US Extracurricular and Leadership Project Mentor:

As a Crimson Extracurricular and Leadership (ECL) project mentor, you'd be working with students to A) strategize and develop a personalized leadership project that demonstrates their interests, ingenuity, and initiative. The leadership project is a vital component of their college application process. And, B) assist them expand their extracurricular profile, by way of pursuing further leadership opportunities (inside and outside of a school setting) and considering activities in a range of different interest areas.

Our mentors are paired on a student-by-student basis, with the control to accept or decline students as the mentors schedules allow. This provides our mentors with abilities to manage their schedule around other commitments. Although there is no minimum hours required, mentors are expected to remain with students until their project has come to a close. Allocations are made on the basis of subject compatibility, meaning that you will be working with students hoping to pursue a project in an area similar to your own expertise. Popular project types and subject areas include:

  • Non-profit/community service
  • Entrepreneurship/Start-up’s
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc)
  • Physics
  • Biology and Medical Sciences
  • Law
  • Performance, Theater, and Fine Arts

    If you have a skillset, a strong educational background, or professional profile that matches the above areas, and you have a passion for education and mentorship, you'd likely be a great candidate for ECL Mentoring! Additional qualities of an ideal ECL mentor include strong project management and organizational skills, an attention to detail, and fantastic written and verbal communication skills.

    Service Expectations:

    As a provider of the standard ECL Service, you will be expected to provide students with guidance and support as it relates to their extracurricular profiles and leadership projects. Core responsibilities include:

    Helping students research and pursue extracurricular activities relevant to their interest

    Supporting students with development and ultimately submitting a Leadership Project Proposal, and Completion Form

    Developing a project management plan for your students leadership project and conducting biweekly to monthly sessions to aid the student in its execution of the project

    Remaining with paired students until completion of their project.

    Liaising with the ECL Admin team and the student Strategist to ensure that the student's ECL program is on track and their experience is satisfactory

     

      Compensation

      The starting rate for standard ECL mentorship is dependent on your previous professional experience and expertise, as well any educational experience one can bring, such as having completed your own top-college application. You will be paid for the session time you spend with your students. Please note that a standard, one hour session will also include, approximately:

      • 15 minutes of preparation time,

      • 10 minutes filling out a session summary, and

      • a potential 10-15 minutes of follow up or research on behalf of your student
