The Residential Aide is used to maintain an environment that is safe, comfortable and secure for our residents. This individual must be capable, under direct supervision, to work in the recovery environment and rehabilitation of persons within the program. This person also conducts therapeutic activities with the clients under the supervision of the Lead Substance Abuse Counselor or Executive Director. This position does not require, and is restricted from performing group counseling, individual counseling, treatment planning, case management, etc., but does act as a liaison between the clinical staff and the clients. This individual is responsible for providing a positive role model for clients to emulate.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage all residents in conversations and activities that are edifying and stimulating.
- Assign household chores to residents.
- Monitor client’s rooms for cleanliness.
- Ensure that clients have the items that they need (i.e. linen, hygiene products, clean clothes, etc.).
- Ensure that all residents are properly respecting and maintaining common areas (esp. kitchen, living room, game room).
- Monitor that each resident is following house rules including curfew/lights out hours.
- Observe and report any unusual behaviors or potential areas of conflict between residents.
- Monitor proper use and functioning of appliances and other household equipment. Observe any unusual activities that may pose a safety or nuisance issue for the clients or neighbors.
- Maintain inventory of all household supplies (i.e. cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, furniture, household keys etc.).
- Completes scheduled activities including, but not limited to intakes, random urine drug screens, room searches, private searches, and emergency drills (fire, tornado, etc.) in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Prepare bedrooms for all new residents entering into the program (i.e. clean linens, dresser drawers, bedroom cleanliness etc.).
- Supervises the daily activities of clients while in the facility to include, but not limited to: clean up, signing in and out of the facility, recreation, visitation, and meal times.
- Review Program and House Rules with all new residents and ensure client compliance with house rules.
- Facilitate House Meetings, Community Meetings, and a weekend Wrap Up or Life Skills Groups
- Welcome and introduce new clients to all existing residents.
- Assist in monitoring Open Arms property to protect from damage and/or theft.
- Communicate in a culturally sensitive manner as our client population is diverse.
- Understand and apply State and CARF requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Shifts will be split into the following hours: AM shift (6am3pm), PM Shift (3pm11pm), Overnight shift (11pm7am)
AM Shift: Assist participants with getting their day started, transport participants to/from groups, assist residents with tasks as needed, participate and assist with all group’s activities, assist addiction counselor with setting up/tearing down group activities, complete shift notes.
PM Shift: Assist with ensuring clients have access to food, doing evening room checks, assist participants with their nightly routines and conducting bed/room checks, ensure evening chores have been completed, complete shift notes.
Overnight shift: Assist participants with any nightly routines, be on call in case of any emergencies, have direct contact with the directors and On Call Addictions Counselor/clinical staff member and complete shift notes.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.87 per hour
