The Employee Relations Specialist acts as a resource and support to employees and managers, providing innovative and high-quality business solutions in accordance with our company culture and values. They are responsible for fostering communication between all levels of URBN employees by championing the open-door policy to ensure employees know that we are open and accepting of feedback.
Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for managing and responding to workplace concerns (e.g., misconduct, unfair treatment, harassment, poor performance, etc.) through review, fact-finding, investigation, documentation, policy interpretation and articulation, performance related coaching, and recommendations for corrective action as warranted.
- Communicate regularly regarding pending investigations and provide timely investigation reports with detailed supporting documentation for all completed investigations.
- Guide the interactive process to ensure ADA compliance and determine reasonable accommodations. When necessary, partner with Leave Administration and HR leadership to proactively manage extended leave and return to work accommodation requests, providing guidance to all involved.
- Support employees with workplace questions and concerns, ensure awareness of URBN policies and available resources.
- Coach managers on how to provide constructive as well as positive feedback to employees to maximize performance in alignment with business goals and ensure compliance with URBN policy. Consult with leaders to address performance feedback through expectation setting, performance improvement plans, and/or progressive discipline.
- Work with leadership to resolve employment issues through objective coaching, trusted feedback, and support.
- Ensure compliance with URBN policy, employment standards, privacy, occupational health and safety and other applicable legislation and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with special projects and training, as needed.
- Stay current with employment law and related issues.
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading investigation and resolution of sensitive and nuanced Employee Relations issues
- Knowledge of multi-state and federal employment law and regulations
