Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School is seeking an UpperSchool Nurse to support students in the Upper School beginning August 1, 2024.
This is a full-time, academic year position reporting to the Upper School Principal. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the United States, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency situations and general first aide triage in a professional manner by providing quality, responsive health care to all students.
- Conduct student health assessments and complete all necessary reports.
- Manage annual student drug screening process.
- Maintain accurate and complete health records in compliance with school policy and administrative regulation. Revise and adhere to policies, regulations and procedures of the school relating to school health and safety plan and comply with school regulations and procedures.
- Promote and assist in the design and delivery of health education for students and families.
- Collaborate with other school professionals, parents and, community members, and health care givers to meet the health, developmental and education needs of the students, serving as a liaison between school, parent, physician and community.
- Possess the skills and knowledge necessary to train staff on first aide issues including, CPR, allergy awareness and medicine distribution.
Educational and Other Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with preference for a degree in nursing.
- 3-5 years prior experience in pediatric or adolescent care required.
- Current certification in CPR Adult/Child, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Certification from the National Board of Certification of School Nurses is preferred.
- Prior experience working in an educational setting preferred.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
Physical and Other Requirements
The nurse is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The nurse may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
