Description: The Overlake School seeks an Upper School Math Teacher. The ideal candidate is an outstanding mathematics educator who will work to ensure student success. The teacher should contribute enthusiastically to our school community as well as the Mathematics and Computer Science department. The ideal candidate will be comfortable fostering supportive student-teacher-family relationships, creating engaging lessons and assessments, and collaborating with colleagues. The Overlake School, as part of its strategic vision, expects a high-level of cultural competency from all faculty including the awareness of one's own identities and how they play a role in the classroom as well as a demonstrated willingness to work towards a more equitable and just world. We seek educators who can center equity and justice in their instruction.
Course assignments will be based on our ideal candidate's strengths, but we welcome teachers with experience and a willingness to teach IB MYP Math, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, or Computer Science. Our department values collaborative, student-centered classrooms, and the importance for students to get a strong foundational understanding of high-school level math rather than hyper-accelerating towards college-level math. Teaching Responsibilities and Duties: Teach four sections of Upper School math, lead an advisory (homeroom), sponsor an Upper School club, and lead students on a one-week Project Week offering in the spring. Teachers are also required to attend department meetings, division, and all-school faculty meetings. Additional responsibilities are distributed fairly and include chaperoning dances, serving on committees, representing the school for Admissions events, and some may require occasional evening, weekend or overnight responsibilities.
Salary: $59,660 - $112,011 Depending on Education and Experience

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Successful candidates are teachers who inspire students to love mathematics. Further, strong candidates must demonstrate the following:
• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Math Education, Statistics or a related field
• Computer literacy and technological proficiency, with interest in incorporating technology into the classroom
• A desire to put cultural competency at the heart of their pedagogy and skill at working with a diverse population in an inclusive and equitable community
• Commitment to modeling and exhibiting high standards of scholarship
• Capacity to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside of the department and grade-level teams
Desired Qualifications:
• Strong background in Math and/or Computer Science
• Experience teaching AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics or IB MYP Mathematics
• Experience with basic computer programming in mathematics
• A strong understanding of the developmental stages of high school students
• A student-centered approach to teaching
• Experience designing curriculum and courses
• Experience with Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning frameworks
• Familiarity with a variety of assessment styles
• Effective classroom management skills
• Natural rapport and demonstrated effective leadership with students
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
• A background that contributes to the diversity of the community and an understanding of diverse cultures and experiences
• Evidence of ongoing professional development
• Willingness and desire to contribute to Overlake beyond the classroom
• Ability to attend some overnight retreats as part of the experiential education program
