Employment Opportunity: We are currently seeking anUpper School Library Assistant/Cataloger to begin early January 2023. The Library Assistant works closely with the Upper School Librarian, supporting students and teachers, and ensuring that the Library is a welcoming place for all. This position requires a degree of independence and initiative and a willingness to actively support a busy, community space.
Status: Full-time non-exempt during the academic year.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Duration: January- June 2024 (possibility of extension)
Salary Range: $19.00 - $21.00/hour

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide daily oversight of the Upper School library
- Supervise and assist students
- Check out materials and equipment
- Provide support for equipment, including: iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, copier, printers, and AV equipment, when necessary.
- Perform original and copy cataloging and adapt online records for all three divisional libraries
- Shelve books when they are returned
- Recommend books and answer reference questions for students and teachers
- Perform clerical duties (related to ordering books and periodicals and purchase suggestions)
- Process new books (including dressing, adding spine labels and barcodes)
- Run circulation related reports and maintain statistical records
- Support inventory and weeding processes
- Oversee the Upper School Birthday Books program
- Work in tandem with the Business Office to assist with book rental distribution
- Secure the library space at the end of the day
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working in a School Library, or other relevant library or classroom experience
- Interest in and experience working with Upper School-aged students
- Flexibility and a willingness to collaborate
- Responsiveness and good communication skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to effectively multitask in a busy library
- Familiarity with Chromebooks/iOS/Windows devices
- Experience with G Suite
- Experience using spreadsheets
- Familiarity with Alexandria or other library automation software
Bachelor's degree required; experience preferred
