Job Description
The Unit Secretary coordinates clerical activities with those of other professional, general and supportive systems. The Unit Secretary acts as the focal point on the nursing unit. Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Independently performs a wide-variety of administrative duties to ensure smooth operations on the unit.
Success Criteria:
a) Obtains signed consents and all required admissions forms upon the arrival of new patients
b) Prepares hard charts prior to patient admissions
c) Schedules follow-up appointments prior to discharge
d) Schedules transportation for patients for dialysis and outside appointments
e) Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff
f) Checks nourishment room and refrigerator daily for cleanliness and expired food and drink products
g) Provides hands-on, immediate assistance to patients when necessary
h) Answers the call-light immediately and ensures patients receive the assistance they need within two minutes
i) Answers the telephone in a friendly and courteous tone. Routes call to appropriate staff or assists the caller
j) Ensures the desk is covered by others during breaks or meals
Additional Job Description
Education:
- HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE OR HOLD A GED CERTIFICATE PREFERRED
Experience:
- PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE PREFERRED.
