The Unit Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information for his/her department. Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries and requests from staff, providers, etc.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collects data from patient charts to complete forms, prior authorizations and schedule appointments as needed
- Documents and reports the information and data collected in a retrievable understandable and readable format
- Is proficient in ability to print and fax documents
- Is proficient in maintaining adequate office supplies
- Is proficient in the use of electronic systems
- Documents information acquired and services implemented in the patient health record
- Communicates openly with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
- Uses effective professional communication skills and tools to acquire and disseminate relevant information to patients, caregivers and health care providers across the continuum of care

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ year of customer service experience in a medical/healthcare position
- Intermediate proficiency of medical terminology
- Intermediate proficiency of computer skills
