Position Summary: In this role your responsibilities will include analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risks, and making loan eligibility decisions. You should be able to exercise sound judgement based on detailed analysis and ensure that all documentation is following the relevant regulations.
Job Responsibilites:
- Authorizing and underwriting loans
- Reviewing and verifying loan applications and supporting documentation
- Analyzing loan risk and requesting additional information as necessary
- Preparing reports on assessment findings
- Making loan eligibility decisions and approving or rejecting applications
- Reviewing and specifying loan conditions as necessary
- Ensuring compliance with company policy and guidelines
- Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for approval/rejection of loans
- Returning applications with additional documentation to the loan officer for review
- Underwrite Conventional USAD, FHA, and VA loans.
- Underwrite Manual VA and FHA loans.
- Underwrite agency and investors overlays
- Assist Processors with questions and documentations
- Good working knowledge of mortgage loan processing and relevant legal regulations
- Proficient with standard software such as Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Maintain proper and professional etiquette and appearance
- Strong attention to details, high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational skills
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Self-discipline, an aptitude for making good decisions and works efficiently under deadlines
- Must be able to handle the pressure of a fast-paced office high work volume
- The ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of escrow, from opening to closing, is required
- Must have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a background check
Education Requirements:
- Minimum high school education required
- Minimum 5-7 consecutive (recent) years in Conventional, FHA, and VA underwriting experience.
- Approved Direct Endorsement Underwriter desired.
- Approved VA Automatic Underwriter desired.
- LAPP SAR desired.
- GUS USDA automated approval system
