Job description

Be part of the nation's only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Underground Maintenance Coordinatorand join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will support the Underground Maintenance Manager and Supervisors. Daily tasks include routine underground inspections, support planning work packages, scheduling electrical and mechanical activities, executing maintenance operations, support for ordering parts, equipment walk down, work package closeout, be qualified and able to fill in as Field Work Supervisor (FWS) when needed, and any other task related to supporting Underground Maintenance operations. Follow all safety procedures, regulations, and policies. Conduct frequent inspections of work areas to assure that safe conditions are maintained. Complete and maintain training as required to perform work in accordance with site policies and procedures.
Non-Exempt Salary Grade (25-30)
Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.
  • Bachelor's Degree, or
  • Associate degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency plus four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience must include two (2) years in mining, maintenance, and/or work control activities.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Preference given to candidates with experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (especially CHAMPS).
  • DOE nuclear experience is desired.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Starting salary $55,555 per year **
