THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.
The Maintenance & CSI Division (MCSI) is looking for students interested in an exciting summer intern opportunity to support our MCSI team. Undergraduate MCSI Interns will work under the direct supervision of a manager & mentor completing challenging work assignments in support of Preventive (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Programs. Opportunity to learn about maintenance programs and how maintenance should be considered when designing systems for a facility, PdM analysis software, and our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Maximo. Work is comprised of daily assignments to support projects, and also contributions to broader strategic MCSI management initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support MCSI on various tasks and
- MCSI support may involve working in one or more of the following areas:
- Predictive Maintenance
- Motor Circuit Analysis
- Vibration analysis
- Reliability Centered Maintenance
- Preventive Maintenance
- Construction design support
- New building construction
- Building turnover
- Procedural Organization/Review
- Predictive Maintenance
Responsibilities can include:
- Assisting in PdM analysis
- Creating procedures/work steps
- Researching PdM/RCM equipment and programs
- Data entry for various programs
- Field walkdowns
- Development of public speaking skills, including presentations on projects worked or special training topics to the larger group.

Qualifications
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Completion of first year Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical degrees.
- or Completion of first year in a Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Must be actively enrolled in school.
- Must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. (upload of current transcripts required)
- Must have:
- Planning/organizing skills and initiative
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of engineering equipment, software, systems, calculations, and applications of engineering methods.
- Have self-motivating attitude and is open to exploring all areas of engineering.
- Ability to follow directions, both written and verbal, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong computer skills are desired, including MS Office and computer programming.
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10's, Monday - Thursday.
- A pre-placement drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, 'Identity, Credential, and Access Management,' and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, 'Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.'
