Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor entrance and departure of guests, employees, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Uphold the restaurant/bar’s customer service philosophy by maintaining a positive experience for guests through professional and courteous behavior and creative problem resolution.
- Assist guests with directions or any other inquiries they may have.
- Develop safe work habits and follow all required safety policies, procedures, and techniques.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Patrol assigned restaurant/bar areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and restaurant/bar property.
- Detect, respond, and deter suspicious and criminal activity. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when the switchboard is closed.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, and threats.
- Maintain logs of property that is taken in and out of the premises.
- Apprehend or detain suspects in accordance with local laws and regulations. Maintain order during escalated situations. Aid emergency responders as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, County, and City laws, regulations, and ordinances. Working knowledge of criminal behavior, underlying criminal and social psychology, and physical methods and procedures.
- Working knowledge of safety standards, procedures, and precautions utilized in security activities.
- Advanced ability to operate equipment safely, skillfully and in conformance with applicable laws and regulations.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Prior Security Guard experience required. Law enforcement background, military service, or 3 years of bar/doorman or other verifiable professional security experience preferred.
- Advanced ability to operate equipment safely, skillfully and in conformance with applicable laws and regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently required to sit and stand; walk; run; jump; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 60 lbs. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Professional appearance is required at all times conductive to the safety and comfort of the responsibilities performed.
- Effectively communicate in both oral and written form. Listen effectively, respond clearly and directly, and have the ability to explain information to others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Working in an air-conditioned building with frequent and disruptive noise, or working outdoors or in an air-condition vehicle, frequently subject to intense or inadequate lighting, disruptive and extreme noise, extreme temperatures, dust/dirt, and constant exposure to hazards and accidents.

$23 - $25 per hour
