Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Ultrasound Technologist I demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform level I routine ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols.
- All technologists utilize independent judgment and the required knowledge to obtain high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
- The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained and prior to submitting to the interpreting radiologist.
- They educate the patient/family about the procedure and report all changes in the patient's status, including initiating emergency response if required.
- They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems.
- Hospital-based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital-adjacent imaging center locations.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Associate's degree or higher.
- Graduate of an ARDMS-approved ultrasound program.
- A minimum of one year of experience is preferred but will consider new grads.
- Hospital/OP Imaging locations only: Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met.
- Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
- BLS
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in one or more specialties
