Job description

Freese and Nichols seeking a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Construction, Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Project Manager. The TxDOT CEI Project Manager will both provide project management assistance on TxDOT projects and help Freese & Nichols pursue new TxDOT work statewide. While you will have a close relationship with Freese and Nichols staff in our Fort Worth headquarters, we are considering candidates for our El Paso or Lubbock locations.

  • Provide supervision to engineers, inspection staff, record keepers, designers, etc., assigned to projects. Coordinate assigned work to ensure continuity, consistency, and quality.
  • Direct and supervise complex TxDOT projects and resolve project matters for solutions and recommendations for the client. Define tasks to be conducted by others, and provide general supervision, review, and approval. Responsible for collecting, correlating, and preparing recommendations and conclusions for final reports.
  • Determine and schedule required project. Evaluate and analyze project decisions to ensure objectivity, soundness of design, and impact of those decisions on schedule, budget, and needs.
  • Maintain established schedule. Keep the Group Manager and/or Project Manager abreast of all project updates, activities, responding promptly to needs, problems, or requests associated with project.
  • Remain state-of-the-art on existing and pending regulations and related technological advancements.
  • May serve as Project Manager for large complex projects requiring intergroup skills and consultants.
  • Participate in the administration, interpretation, and implementation of contracts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    Professional Engineer Registration
  • Knowledge and experience with TxDOT CEI processes, marketing, procurement and proposals with TXDOT CEI projects statewide
  • 8+ years' experience including specific experience in making independent decisions on engineering problems and methods. Must be familiar with TxDOT Specs and Standards, advanced techniques and the modification and extension of engineering theories, precepts, and practices.
