Tx Dot Construction Inspector

We are currently seeking a TX DOT Construction Inspector in the Austin, TX area.

Work Hours: 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

O.T.: YES

Vehicle: Company Vehicle Provided

General Description:
This position inspects construction methods and workmanship on Heavy TX DOT highway projects to ensure contractor adheres to the plans and specifications; coordinates work in progress, assist with problem resolution; may serve as the only inspector on a construction project or be part of a team of inspectors. Reports to a Project Manager and/or Professional Engineer.
Responsibilities:

• Attends and participates in TX DOT project meetings.
• Calculates payments due contractors for work completed.
• Coordinates with project team members and contractors on work progress and construction issues.
• Observes and inspects ongoing construction work to ensures contractor adheres to plans and specifications.
• Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities to record job progress, crews on site, weather conditions, and/or relevant issues.
• Maintain contract time statements.
• Monitors traffic control plans and ensures compliance with plans and specifications and performs inspections of barricades.
• Inspect SWPP BMPs
• Coordinates required testing the appropriate testing lab.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Required Competencies:
The required competencies for this job include:

• Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans.
• Ability to perform measurements and calculations for pay estimate pay items.
• Knowledge of applicable inspection methods, procedures, and techniques
• Knowledge of applicable testing methods, processes and procedures
• Knowledge of Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices

Required Education:
This job requires the following:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Required Work Experience:
This job requires the following:

• 1+ years construction inspection experience on DOT projects.

Preferred Certifications:
The following Certifications are preferred, but not required for this job:

• Work Zone Traffic Control
• HMAC Level 1-B Certification
• ACI Field Grade 1 Certification
