The position of Surgery Scheduler & Triage Coordinator is Full-time and benefited, working Monday-Friday at our Administrative Office in Vancouver, WA. Surgery Scheduler and Triage Coordinator Description: This position is responsible for surgery scheduling for patients and triage calls with our patients. This includes coordinating and scheduling any surgical procedure and tests, along with acquiring lab results, dictation, physician orders, and patient instructions related to the procedure. This position works with physicians to respond to patient care inquiries as well as supports patients through care, comfort, education, and setting of proper expectations of treatments, symptoms, and possible solutions over the phone.
Surgery Scheduler maintains and updates current surgical information on physician’s schedules; obtains pre-surgical consults for patients, coordinates pre- and post-op physician’s orders and provides information regarding patients to hospitals; obtains authorizations and referrals for surgical procedures; and communicates, cooperates, & coordinates workflow with team members in the best interest of the patient and Retina Northwest.
Triage Coordinator maintains and documents in EMR related to care coordination, including phone calls, communications, visits, and other pertinent clinical information; coordinates and follows up on all outbound referrals, electronic prescription refills, and lab results; reschedules patients as needed; reviews list of tasks, portal messages, faxes all on a daily basis; displays and maintains a positive and professional attitude in all communications with patients, families, physicians, co-workers.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities: EHR experience preferred (NextGen experience desirable); excellent communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of medical terminology; 45+ WPM; flexibility and adaptability; critical thinking; detail oriented; critical thinking; highly organized; and a team focus.
Education – HS Diploma or equivalent required
Experience – Minimum of one-two years in a medical office, scheduling experience preferred; Office experience in Ophthalmology highly desirable.
Physical/Mental demands: Prolonged standing, sitting, infrequent bending, twisting, and stooping. May team lift 25-40 lbs. Manual dexterity for phone, office machines, computer functions.
