Associates of CoBank's Treasury & Risk Development Program progress through a two-year rotation in different functional areas in CoBank's Enterprise Risk Management and Treasury divisions in order to gain a broad understanding of these function in a GSE bank. Rotational assignments provide on-the-job experience with CoBank's various Treasury and Enterprise Risk Management Divisions, and each rotation offers the opportunity to train with and support these CoBank teams. In addition to on-the-job training, the Development Associate completes curriculum to support their development throughout the training period. The first 6 months will include an onboarding period through CoBank's credit management group for foundational training. CoBank's Development Program is ideal for strong candidates who are new to the Treasury or Enterprise Risk Management profession or lack directly relevant experience.


Treasury Rotation
1. Support the funding, derivatives and investment teams in their daily activities
2. Develop an understanding of the funding markets and how CoBank manages liquidity
3. Learn how CoBank uses derivatives to manage our balance sheet as well as to support customer activity
4. Develop an understanding of the investments that CoBank holds as investment and the management of the investment portfolio
5. Understand the theory and application of Funds Transfer Pricing and the relationship with rates charged to customers
6. Provides support in the preparation, review, and maintenance of timely monthly and quarterly risk reports.
7. May participate in select projects depending on expertise and progress on the learning process above
8. Performs other duties as assigned
Finance Rotation
1. Develop an understanding of income and capital forecasting
2. Learn about analyzing and attributing Treasury net interest income to various drivers of returns
3. Provides support in the preparation, review, and maintenance of timely monthly and quarterly risk reports.
4. May participates in select projects depending on expertise and progress on the learning process above
5. Performs other duties as assigned
Enterprise Risk Management Rotation
1. Learn market risk fundamentals of a GSE bank balance sheet.
2. Learn foundations of relevant market risk models, methods and calculations for CoBank.
3. Learn basics of operating a market risk platform
4. Learns fundamental accounting principles needed for a market risk analyst.
5. Learn and support risk model data loading and reconciling processes.
6. Provides support in basic interest rate risk analysis.
7. Provides support in the preparation, review, and maintenance of timely monthly and quarterly risk reports.
8. May participate in select projects depending on expertise and progress on the learning process above
9. Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Prior Experience in customer service, banking or financial services and/or internship experience, required

Preferred Qualifications:
1.Programing skills R, Python, SAS or similar.
2. Strong math background.
3. Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
6. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
7. Demonstrated ability to produce work that is timely, accurate and thorough.

The starting base for this role is $62,000.
Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
