General Summary of Position

Ensure the safe movement of patients of all ages from the emergency department to all areas of the hospital to include the laboratory and radiology departments, the operating room, and patient hospital rooms.

Transport lab specimens and equipment, such as stretchers and wheelchairs.

Validate patients' identity based on established department protocol and remain alert to patient condition and promptly communicates changes to clinical staff.

Assist with patient handling and lifting using appropriate patient safety equipment, proper body mechanics, and appropriate patient safety handling procedures.

Communicate status updates and location information as required in accordance with department protocols to help facilitate workflow.

• May be required to transport deceased persons to the morgue.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year 6 months previous healthcare experience preferred.
• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
• Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
