Job description

PATIENT TRANSPORT (WRNMMC):
Required Qualifications:
1. Shall have one year of experience in the hospitality service industry or equivalent work.
2. Must be able to communicate fluently in English and have the ability to comprehend verbal and/or written transport instruction.
4. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and have excellent customer service and communication skills. 5. Must successfully be able to complete the following skills: oxygen transport, customer service, ergonometric and body mechanics, push and pull 40 pounds and perform proper hand washing techniques. The Government reserves the right to adjust these requirements.
6. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
7. Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Certification must be renewed at no additional cost to the Government.
8. Work includes prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending. Requires the ability to function in a demanding environment. Must be able to quickly adapt to unfamiliar surroundings.
9. Must possess strong attributes of customer relations and “people skills” (e.g., courteous, attentive listener, patient, strong communications skills).
10. Must possess a positive attitude and certain degree of creativity and latitude in handling difficult situations.
11. General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, excellent communications and customer service skills required.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
1. One Patient Transport Representative will serve as a lead. This employee will report to the supervisor in efforts to help with daily management of duties outlined within this contract. 2. Transport patients to various locations within the WRNMMC footprint utilizing the vehicle mentioned in Part 4.4 of this contract. The vehicle is not intended for staff transportation, patient use only.
3. Assist with the movement of patients into and out of wheelchairs; on to and off of wheeled stretcher beds.
4. Contractors trained to ensure the safe handling, lifting, and movement of patients and other customers from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair, stretchers, van service or other mode of transportation within the hospital setting as requested (or necessary) to include the transport of patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment. 5. Provide support, utilizing contract ADA Van, for patients located in the Fisher House, and Navy Lodge by providing transportation to and from the Fisher House to the Hospital.
6. Report any transportation provided to the Patient Transport dispatch clearly stating the time and location of the pick-up and drop off.
7. Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds and wheelchairs.
8. Notify the dispatcher to request another transporter if he/she will be unable to arrive within 15 minutes of the ready time.
9. Receive or deliver patients to their vehicle at any of the drive up entrances of the hospital and assists patients into or out of their vehicle.
10. Remain with the patient until their transportation has arrived.
11. Contract personnel will not be utilized to transport bleeding, sedated, or patients who are considered medically or mentally unstable. Additionally, patients in contact precautions are not to be transported by contractor personnel.
12. Report any issues related to effectively executing these duties to the supervisor.
13. Render aid to customers in need within the scope of training outlined in this contract and within Basic Life Saver Certification Standards, immediately report to supervisor.
14. Understand assigned roles and respond to Hospital Emergency Code(s) Blue, Black, Orange, Yellow, Gray, Green, Pink, Gray, and White or any others that may be developed as a result of or change with contractor duties.
