JOB TITLE: TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR
SUMMARY: Manages driver employees as part of the operational function of the
fleet. Maintains equipment and facility to achieve optimal performance. Implement quality concepts throughout the operational process to
make continuous improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervise day-to-day transportation workforce.
- Manage all aspects of transportation discipline to include: safety and security compliances/ route structures and development/ personnel scheduling/ work load assignments/ cost control and metric driven performance.
- Oversees all daily operations in the most cost-effective and customer-satisfying manner.
- Coach a high-performance team and adhere to VRC regulations.
- Provide daily oversight of transportation operations to ensure high levels of service, production and quality metrics are achieved.
- Plan staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage.
- Communicate effectively with the frontline regarding change procedures, initiatives and program roll outs.
- Execute daily reporting mechanisms that provide critical data points to business trends and overall operational performance.
- Manage enforcement of attendance, productivity, accuracy, and uniform adherence for team members.
- Management of a 24-hour Operation that requires time critical responsiveness.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT. Communicate and verify that all drivers are
kept informed by use of meetings and written communications. Uses weekly compliance list
and daily work assignment list to ensure duties, activities and projects are being completed by
personnel in a timely fashion. Must enforce uniform compliance on all shifts. Plans and directs
employees for disaster planning and drills.
QUALITY TRACKING & IMPROVEMENT. Participate fully in all facets of the companies’
quality programs, including development, training and quality improvement teams. Monitor,
track, and set goals for critical quality areas (Productivity and Accuracy). Communicate/chart
measurable performance goals and results to work toward continuous improvements.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE/UPKEEP. Responsible for maintaining fleet truck appearances and mechanical upkeep from inside and out. Must control and schedule regular maintenance/repairs for equipment: Must track repairs and control cost for all maintenance involving all equipment.
CUSTOMER SERVICE. Responsible for providing courteous and attentive treatment to all
customers. Presents a professional and positive image when interacting with customers in
person or over the phone. Handling/coordinating special requests and resolving customer
problems.
Requirements:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE EXPERIENCE/
High school diploma minimum. 1-3 college preferred and/or 3-5 years related supervisory related experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver’s License with clean MVR and clean background check. Prefer F endorsementand DOT physical.
- Training in Total Quality management concepts and tools preferred. Problem solving skillsto solve people and process problems.
- Detail oriented work style to identify discrepancies
- Organizational skills to meet critical deadlines and schedule resources and handle massiveamounts of paperwork flow.
- Willingness and flexibility to take responsibility for daily operational needs (able to coverany shift, run emergencies).
- Willing and able to do physical work when necessary (Lift 50-75 lbs.), lift and work on
- platform using proper safety tools up to 20 ft. above floor).
