POSITION:
Transportation Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' experience and/or training in the area of transportation
- Must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the "Michigan Pupil Transportation Act"
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience with union contracts helpful. Ability to understand and interpret contract language required
CERTIFICATE:
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License Class B, C, P, and S with air brake endorsement (or the ability to obtain)
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Implements Board of Education policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations concerning pupil transportation services
- Supervise all transporters and riders
- Review transporter job performance
- Approves all school bus driver certification and maintains records of Commercial Drivers' License and School Bus Driver Certification for all bus drivers and mechanics.
- Effectively communicates with transporters to solve problems and handle union issues
- Coordinates and schedules transporter trainings and meetings
- Supervises all aspects of route development and adjustments
- Works with program staff, parents, and Special Education department staff as necessary to accommodate special needs of students including medically fragile students
- Participate in any challenging IEPs as needed
- Develop and maintain understanding of adaptive equipment and specialized transportation
- Manage, investigates and reports accident situations involving district vehicles including appropriate insurance and driver testing
- Coordinate bi-monthly regional coordinators meetings
- Coordinate annual bus inspections
- Manage fleet including recordkeeping, maintenance, and repairs to ensure all vehicles are mechanically safe and sound to operate
- Assist in management of departmental budget
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
- Predictable, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned at the direction of the Supervisor or Superintendent.

230 days, student breaks off with minimum two weeks work time during summer breaks
