Job description

Job Summary

Manufactures products by supervising staff, organizing and monitoring workflow in the Kitchen area.

Job Responsibilities

  • Achieves manufacturing goals by communicating job expectations; training, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results’ coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains working flow by monitoring steps of the process setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reduction; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Ensures that all production plans are followed by assigning team members; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; recording results on shift production summaries.
  • Train and mentors, the kitchen team members on critical aspects of their jobs which includes but is not limited to - properly set up and dismantle work stations, equipment, and machines, to conduct preventive maintenance on the production equipment - such as oiling and greasing the machines and ensuring their proper workability and to locate and pull the proper raw materials based on our daily Production Planner and monitor their activities.
  • Ensures that kitchen team members are trained and certified to operate a Hi-Low and the Big Joe as necessary.
  • Oversees the daily Walkthrough Checklist is completed each workday.
  • Monitors operation of equipment and alerts management when repairs are needed and evaluating new equipment techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment and educates and directs team members on the use of control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors all activities going on in our work area.
  • Ensures the timely preparation and availability of production supplies and ingredients to avoid shortages during production.
  • Reads and understands all machine instructions.
  • Follow strict safety policies and ensure other team members do as well. Communicate to management any injury immediately.
  • Provides management with ideas on how to improve aspects of the business.
  • Maintains proper communication with your supervisor keeping him/her updated on production activities, progress, and issues.
  • Works closely with the Plant Manager to implement and maintain policies and procedures in product quality and food safety.
  • Assist with other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Minimum of three years experience in a food production environment.
  • Minimum of one year experience in leadership/supervision.
  • Must be able to regularly lift 60 lbs. and work on your feet, while using tools to perform repetitive actions.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvements and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Due to production line requirements, machine operators must work in unison with the other members of your production team.
  • Must be able to work safely in a quick-paced, physically demanding environment where you control various machines and equipment.
