Work Environment:
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000 - $110,000 annually.

Responsibilities:What you'll be challenged to do:
Mid- level position in the area of transportation/transit planning, environmental planning and documentation, land use planning, grant oversight and writing, and associated specialties. Position will work on different types of projects for various clients and will join a group of Transportation Planners in our downtown Chicago location and work with employees in our other offices who perform a variety of projects and studies for public and agency clients. This level is also eligible to be a Project Manager overseeing projects and project staff.

- Independently performs assignments
- Is communicative and responsive to clients
- Can oversee projects as a Project Manager or as a senior level planner
- Conducts research and documentation
- Gathers and analyzes data to present materials such as graphics and maps.
- Works well as part of the team to visualize solution concepts and assist in preparing recommendations and alternatives.
- Compiles and analyzes data on site conditions, compliance reviews and facilitation and implementation of programs and services required by federal, state, and local legislation.
- Participates in onsite inspections, inventorying, and documentation of existing site conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Attends and participates in internal team meetings and applies manager’s feedback when making project revisions.
Qualifications:
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning or related field required
- 10+ years of experience
- Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and ArcView required.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:
- Familiarity and some skill with graphic software packages (e.g., INDESIGN, Photoshop) is a plus.
- Experienced in the oversight of grant programs.
Work Environment:
- The work environment characteristics are mainly described as an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
- This position will be required to perform their work in the office for a minimum of 3 days/week.
- Position may require some travel to the project site or another office using various modes of transportation including automobile and airline. Once at the project site, there may be noise and exposure to the outdoors.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
