Hire Resolve's client is a global engineering firm, which is urgently seeking the expertise of a Transportation Engineer in San Diego, California.
Responsibilities
- Support transportation projects that involve bridge construction, rehabilitation, widening or seismic retrofit; dam rehabilitation; storm drain or sewage pump plant construction or rehabilitation; major road reconstruction; construction of major storm drain systems; or other types of public works projects. Under the oversight and direction of client leadership and field area supervisors
- Perform construction inspection, oversight, enforcement of compliance with the contract documents, and on-site management of the construction of the types of projects described above
- Prepare and process change orders, daily logs, and working day statements; collect work records; maintain accurate records of work done for payment purposes; conduct employee interviews; prepare as-built plans and perform other associated contract administration tasks
- Arrange for materials testing and construction staking to be performed by client staff
- Respond to inquiries from the public, elected officials, other agencies, Project Management Division staff and other affected Public Works' Divisions
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Project Management Division and client staff
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in Civil or Construction Engineering
- Previous experience on at least three bridge construction, bridge widening, bridge seismic retrofit, major storm drain, or major roadway reconstruction projects
- Registration as a Civil Engineer by the State of California
- Familiarity with, and a working knowledge of the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook) and the Standard Plans for Public Works Construction, and experience in their use
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, special provisions, and other contract documents
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Ability to independently identify problems and propose solutions
