PCB Supply Chain Engineer is responsible for:

  • Managing PCB New Product Introductions and PCB Technology within the Supply Chain to ensure capability, availability, and quality of PCBs to meet Intel's current and future PCB technology requirements.
  • In this position, you will work various Intel design teams, commodity managers and manufacturing engineers to support various Intel Business units.
  • Responsibilities include market intelligence across PCB Fabrication Supply Chain, supplier technology and capability evaluations and qualifications, PCB material and product qualifications, and providing guidelines for various DfX for Manufacturability, Quality, Assembly, Warpage etc.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Own business unit and PCB supplier technical interface from new product introductions through end-of-life.
  • Own supplier technology and product qualifications at PCB suppliers to ensure process flow capabilities, verification of required metrologies, process Cp/CpK, and implementation of process controls.
  • Support supplier quality and process audits at existing and potential PCB suppliers and PCB material suppliers.
  • Deliver market intelligence on capability, capacity, and quality of new and existing suppliers across the PCB Supply Chain including: PCB fabrication, laminate materials, process equipment, and chemicals.
  • Own investigation and closure of supplier quality excursions and yields including root cause analysis and corrective action verification with emphasis on Design for Manufacturability guidelines.
  • Perform PCB design reviews using Valor or Cadence Allegro and providing design analysis for reliability, manufacturability, and quality.
  • Review of PCB stackups for process interactions and acceptability to manufacturing standards and Qualified Technology Envelopes.
  • Assess PCB designs and provide recommendations for optimal performance at lowest cost.
  • Supports management/senior leadership to incorporate process and quality improvements in Intel's Supply Chain and logistics strategy.
  • Defines material inspection methodology, conducts studies related to cost control, process control, and production yield, and implements plans and programs to optimize Supply Chain.
  • Supports product long range plan development by defining next generation methodology capabilities to support Intel's Supply Chain roadmap.
  • Explores and benchmarks emerging technology in the industry. Contributes to Intel's future technology definition and requirements.
  • Highlights gaps between roadmap strategy, manufacturing capability, and market demands and recommends solutions to addresses those gaps.
  • Tracks supply demand trends, conducts root cause analysis to find opportunities for process and quality improvements, and collaborates with Supply Chain leads to implement solutions.
  • Leads supplier selections for new business in partnership with commodity managers and technical/quality partners and drives product and purchase specification content to ensure commodity performance compliance.
  • Performs alternate sourcing risk mitigation for single sourced commodities.
  • Establishes control standards, determines KPIs, monitors performance against targets, and drives root cause analysis for Supply Chain issues to arrive at solutions.
  • Drives supplier process window validation activities on critical process modules through all stages of development.
  • Drives supplier improvements on quality, reliability, yield, and cost.
  • Maintains quality standards and systems, creating relevant specifications to minimize variability and subjectivity to align with operational capability requirements.
  • Leads quality excursion management and drives failure mode analysis with suppliers.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects to meet often demanding schedules.

Qualifications


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in PCB/Substrate manufacturing or PCB/Substrate design.
  • Ability to travel domestically and international to support business (10% travel)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree
  • Prior external experience as a PCB process engineer, PCB field applications engineer, or PCB reliability/materials engineer.
  • Working knowledge or experience in Printed Circuit Board Assembly processes at ODMs or OEMs In-depth knowledge of PCB fabrication processes and materials Experience with Mentor/Cadence PCB design tools or Valor analysis.
  • PCB/PCBA failure analysis to determine root cause Prior experience in project management of Root Cause Analyses, 8D reporting, and corrective action implementations of PCB/PCBA failures and MBPS
  • Knowledge and experience applying Dfx to PCB/PCBA designs: Design for Cost, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly/Test, and Design for Reliability.
  • Knowledge of Impedance modeling of PCBs, Signal Integrity and Power Delivery strategies for PCB designs.
  • Experience in material and design optimization for cost and reliability. Working knowledge of IPC or Mil specifications for PCB fabrication and PCB acceptance. Knowledgeable of local and global PCB supply base is a plus.
  • Understanding of RoHS, REACH, and other environmental compliance laws and initiatives. Data analysis using JMP, typically process data stability/capability analyses, commonality analyses, correlations etc. Knowledge of raw materials - Copper Foils, laminates, adhesives, surface finishes, and PCB reliability failures Knowledge of automotive TS16949 requirements

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $105,797.00-$175,105.00
  • Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
