Job purpose
The Transportation Dispatcher Assistant is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily operations of a fleet of drivers and vehicles. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring timely and efficient services to customers. The Transportation Dispatcher Assistant is responsible for assigning routes, monitoring driver performance, and addressing any issues or challenges that may arise during transportation operations.
Duties and responsibilities
Route Planning:
- Plan and allocate routes for drivers to optimize delivery efficiency.
- Consider factors like distance, traffic conditions, and delivery priorities when assigning routes.
- Adapt route plans in real-time to accommodate changes or emergencies.
Driver Management:
- Supervise a team of drivers, ensuring they are punctual and adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
- Monitor driver schedules and break times to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with labor laws.
Communication:
- Maintain clear and efficient communication with drivers via phone, tablet/computer.
- Provide drivers with all necessary information, such as PU/Drop off instructions and route updates.
Problem Resolution:
- Address any issues that may arise during transportation operations, such as traffic delays, accidents, or vehicle breakdowns.
- Collaborate with drivers and maintenance personnel to find timely solutions.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of driver activities.
- Generate reports on driver performance, delivery times, and other relevant metrics.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure drivers follow safety protocols and regulations, including proper vehicle maintenance and inspection.
- Address safety concerns and take corrective actions as needed.
Customer Service:
- Interact with customers or clients to provide updates on delivery status and resolve any delivery-related issues.
- Foster positive relationships with customers to enhance service quality.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
