Job Description

Toole Design Group in Madison, WI is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Transportation Data Analyst II. Do you enjoy finding ways to tell stories with data? Do you grow weary of working on the same project day-in, day-out? Does the prospect of a new stack of datasets energize you? Would you like to work for a firm that is committed to the well-being of its employees? If so, please consider joining our Madison team.

This Transportation Data Analyst II position focuses on data wrangling, spatial analysis and analytical model building for active transportation and safety projects across North America. This position earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.

Our talented team of planners, landscape architects and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.

Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.

Qualifications of a Transportation Data Analyst II:
  • 3+ years of experience

  • Programming experience including Python and SQL
  • Understanding of planning analysis methods
  • Knowledge of standard planning and engineering data sets (e.g. GIS network data, crash data, OpenStreetMap, Time-series data, GPS data, census data)
  • Ability to manage large datasets and workflows
Preferred if you have some/any of the following skills:
  • Experience of working on safety projects, understanding of Safe System Approach and skills of performing data-driven safety analysis
  • Web development experience (JavaScript/HTML/CSS)
  • Statistical analysis and/or machine learning
You'll be great here if:
  • You are passionate about the power of geospatial data
  • You enjoy finding creative solutions to complex problems
  • You are a self-starter who is motivated to keep abreast of changing techniques and technology
  • You enjoy participating in multi-disciplinary teams
  • You are passionate about sustainability and the opportunity to work on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livable
  • You enjoy producing high-quality work products and seeing your projects get built
  • You have strong communication skills, whether written, verbal, or graphically
  • You can build relationships, bring enthusiasm to exciting projects, and are detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills
