Mission
QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills
Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as Vocational Evaluator for Diagnostic Vocational Evaluations, Career Exploration Assessments, Job Exploration Counseling, and Post-Secondary Counseling
  • Prepare all materials needed for the evaluations. Collaborate with and/or delegate to the Administrative Assistant scheduling individuals for evaluation, assessment, and counseling appointments
  • Assist with delivering Work Readiness, Self-Advocacy, and other trainings as your schedule allows and in accordance with ACCES-VR requirements and the agency-approved curricula
  • Enter all data and material in the appropriate area of the ACCES-VR database (SimplePractice)

Program Evaluation
  • On an ongoing basis, assist with the review the testing instruments, structured activities, and counseling approaches that are used in the agency's vocational evaluation and assessment services
  • Ensure that all assessment tools are being used with fidelity to the instrument's intent

Day Habilitation (Achieve) Curriculum Planning
  • Assist with developing and/or identifying curriculum materials that could be helpful in supporting individuals in the program with learning and mastering their respective goals
  • Identify pre-vocational learning opportunities in the community for individuals enrolled in the Achieve program. This includes building relationships with potential community-based volunteer training sites
  • Assist with developing learning objectives based on participants' personal goals as identified in their Life Plans

Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain continuing education required for ACCES-VR service providers
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree or enrollment in a Master's degree program in counseling or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of varied professional experience
  • Experience with vocational services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Strong organizational, writing, and oral communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to multitask
  • Willingness to travel for program-related meetings
  • Commitment to QSAC's mission and values
