Job Description
Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge and skills to empower new and current staff? The Training Specialist is responsible for assisting the Training department with the implementation of orientation and recertification training according to OPWDD regulatory standards; along with other agency training needs. Training classes will include CPR/AED/First Aid, SCIP-R, incident reporting etc. (current certification is not required). Successful candidate will be required to present in a group setting.
Requirements:Qualifications:
Associates degree in human services, preferred but not required
Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting individuals with Developmental Disabilities
Teaching/coaching/training experience- experience does not need to be in a professional setting.
Must be comfortable teaching in small and large groups
Must be comfortable with the physicality of teaching a range of SCIP-R physical interventions (from grasps to restraints)
Strong Communication and leadership skills.
Mostly daytime weekday hours, 35hrs. Some evening/weekend hours will be required to accommodate the training needs of all staff.
Proficiency with Microsoft Power Point, Excel, and Word
