Yunex Traffic is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our project team in Miami, Florida. A successful candidate will have spent at least 3 to 5 years in Traffic Engineering and infrastructure projects, preferably in the State of Florida.
The successful candidate will be part of a team of engineers and technicians upgrading the existing traffic infrastructure of almost 3000 intersections to the latest controller and central traffic control technology. Responsibilities will include traffic controller timing conversion, quality control, signal retiming, development of Traffic Engineered solutions, and ensuring traffic safety & operational compliance with Florida guidelines.
The role requires a proven track record of solid technical, organizational, and communication skills and as well as professional engineering experience in the ITS industry.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering or equivalent
- Five (5) years of working experience in the ITS industry, with engineering consultants or government agencies
- Expertise in traffic signal control and advanced traffic management systems (ATMS), traffic control operations, traffic signal timings, and addressing traffic safety & operational challenges
- Experience in traffic controller retiming, timing conversions, testing and fine tuning
- Experience with traffic controllers 170, 2070 series or similar and controller cabinet configuration, experience with Yunex Traffic SEPAC controller software beneficial
- Outstanding technical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) and Connected Vehicle (V2X) devices and applications preferred
- Experience programming Bus Rapid Transit is preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform ITS software and hardware deployment and integration tasks, i.e. Traffic Engineering for Yunex’ urban product portfolio on the intersection and network control level.
- Work with different internal departments (Sales, Project Management, R&D, Product Management, Procurement, Legal and Field Operations) and external partners to successfully deliver projects based on customer requirements
- Develop and convert traffic signal timing plans for isolated intersections and coordinate sections
- Contribute to the programming of traffic signal controllers to download/upload and modify signal timing plans
- Provide local testing of new databases and validate operations in the field
- Provide quality control for related work of others and sign and seal migrated data
- Monitor and troubleshoot traffic signal operations and devices including below and above-ground detection (including hybrid devices)
- Provide timing expertise and optimize adaptive settings
- Support testing and commissioning activities
- Monitor traffic data collection, retiming and the deployment of traffic responsive engineering solutions by third parties
- Participate in the deployment of adaptive control solutions and connected vehicle (V2X) applications
- Develop and test Bus Rapid Transit programming using SEPAC.
- Provide guidance and technical problem analysis to the team members
- Prepare presentations and arrange meetings with the client to explain the various parameters, provide technical clarifications and ultimately convince that it is the best fit-for-purpose solution
- Contribute to the requirements, configuration, and change management
- Understand and manage regulating authorities’ and code requirements, as well as other industry-specific requirements, standards, and guidelines
- Prepare, participate, and perform training/development plans and activities up to teaching complete classes internally and externally
- Ensure proper filing/storage of engineering documentation – e.g. drawings, version history, scope documents, RFI's
- Identify opportunities and risks
- Report on the progress of the activities (technical functions, approval, customer acceptance)
- Act as an expert and consultant to improve concepts, methods, and processes
