How You'll Perform the Role


The Traffic Clerk is responsible for proactively maintaining customer shipment transactions to ensure timely and accurate product delivery and freight invoicing to customers. These transactions are time sensitive and must be entered in an efficient and accurate manner, enabling us to provide accurate information to the Customer Service team, as well as others within the organization.

  • Enters picked orders in the ERP system and creates the bill-of-lading (BOL) along with shipping labels for all outbound shipments including customer pickups.
  • Compiles daily shipping activities to create outbound shipment reports.
  • Confers with management, supervisors and hourly staff to ensure an efficient flow of work through the distribution system including scheduling carrier and customer pickups, allocating orders in the ERP system, planning product moves between the various warehouses and checking orders for pick accuracy.
  • Supports the Customer Service Group by providing delivery confirmations, invoice verifications so credits can be issued to customers, and other requests that involve research of details within the ERP system and/or the carrier network.
  • Participates in planning and setting up in-bound replenishment orders in the ERP system to ensure a timely and efficient flow of finished goods while making sure customer order demands are met.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with basic math, multiplication, division and decimals.
  • Ability to apply advanced math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and uses above average reasoning to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral and diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in written, oral, mathematical, diagram or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.

What We Need From You
  • High school diploma or GED required, though a 2-year college degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of work experience, including some experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately input data into various computer software applications.
  • Previous knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision to complete job tasks.
  • Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with suppliers, customers, management, and peers.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation operations, order management, performance metrics, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the accurate, efficient reporting of data to internal and external customers.
