PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to perform cash receipting and collection of fines and fees associated with court orders and cash bonds for the State Court Clerk’s Office/Traffic Violation Bureau (TVB). Work is performed under the general supervision of the State Court Clerk.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Handles cash for payment of court fines and fees; allocates cash to individual accounts; enters data into automated financial systems, verifies data, and processes transactions.
Performs daily cash reconciliation and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies with the assistance of the State Court TVB Supervisor and/or lead.
Receives and processes payments from individuals being placed into the Pretrial Intervention (PTI) Program.
Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy; pairs documents to related information such as matching court orders to charged fees and/or matching payments to other outstanding monies; verifies correct funds are disbursed to appropriate fine and fee accounts.
Reconciles payments daily with the assistance of the State Court TVB Supervisor and/or lead assigned to the TVB.
Prepares/calculates financial information such as determining amount to be collected/refunded or disbursed; counts and totals cash/checks received; posts/enters transactions into County’s case management/financial management system.
Files and enters new citations into the County’s case managements systems for processing.
Files, dockets, and scans court dispositions and case pleadings. Reports convictions to Department Drivers Services (DDS) on all traffic citations.
Receives, processes, and balances their cash tills each day under the direction of the State Court TVB Supervisor and/or lead assigned to the TVB.
Received and processes payments to all accounts by mail, at the window, and/or the Internet.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
May provide clerical and/or administrative support to department managers as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year or previous experience performing technical and/or fiscal control work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
