Town of East Hampton-Town Maintenance Supervisor-$100,900.00 annually for a 40-hour work week
The Parks, and the Buildings and Grounds Departments are responsible for the maintenance, repair and service of Town owned properties including beaches and recreational areas, cemeteries, and office buildings. This department also addresses other Town maintenance needs, such as the street lighting repairs, storm clean-up, and event organization.
As the department head, the Town Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all administrative control over this work, in addition to supporting Town projects though assisting with plans, estimating costs, and allocating resources. The incumbent directly supervises the Town Maintenance Crew Leader, Labor Crew Leader, Electrical Services Supervisor, Maintenance Mechanic IV plumber. and the Public Works Capital Projects Manager and has general supervision over the maintenance mechanics, groundskeepers, custodians, and laborers.
The incumbent will also Inspect facilities periodically to determine necessary maintenance and will prepare weekly maintenance work schedules. This responsibility includes coordinating with other department heads, the Town Board, and supervisors within the Parks, and Buildings and Grounds, departments.
Responsibilities include:
- Assigns projects to specialized crews and individual Maintenance Mechanics engaged in the repair and maintenance of Town buildings and reviews work in progress, follows up on completed projects to ensure all standards were met
- Prepares the annual budget and ensures compliance with policies and procedures
- Plans projects, submits cost reports, estimates of materials and assigns necessary personnel in coordination with department’s supervisory personnel; orders tools and equipment as necessary
- Monitors inventory of materials and equipment
- Oversees reports and form submissions by department supervisors to outside agencies including the Suffolk County Department of Health and other state and county agencies including outside engineers and contractors
- Interviews and hires candidates in accordance with all Suffolk County Civil Service and Town of East Hampton policies and procedures
- Sets schedules for titles within the department
- Develops maintenance policies and procedures and schedules and conducts training, with assistance of Building Maintenance Supervisor, for department employees
- Demonstrates compliance with all safety and PPE training, COVID response, and works with the Town’s Safety Coordinator in safety inspections, and the training of department employees
- Responds to maintenance requests and works with supervisory team to schedule work
- Participates in Town Committees as assigned by the Town Board
- Reviews and approves time sheets
- Reviews and approves all purchase order requisitions
- Ensures compliance with health and safety standards as standardized by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
- Does related work as necessary
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the annual salary is $100,900.00, with benefits. The minimum qualifications for this position are senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in the performance and/or supervision of a variety of buildings and grounds maintenance activities. NOTE: Additional education beyond high school may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four (4) years. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.
