Job Summary: Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the utility group as well as maintenance of the facility infrastructure. Responsibilities include the maintenance of the plant’s external grounds, the oversight of outside vendors who have been awarded service contracts and providing general support to Capital Project initiatives and manufacturing operations within O-AT-KA Milk. The ability to perform work safely, meet the needs of Operations, execute the maintenance program and comply with all safety codes is paramount. Responsibilities include assigning and directing work, assisting workers, investigating accidents and issues, effectively resolving conflict, motivating and training workers, effectively communicating and listening to workers at all levels within the organization, performance management, planning work assignments to fully utilize personnel, enforce and support all policies, procedures and work rules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Building Services
· Responsible for the maintenance of the plant’s grounds, roadways, and parking lot. This shall include the solicitation of maintenance service contracts.
· Assist with coordinating the movement of equipment within the plant.
· Oversees the workflow of contractors involved in small and mid-size project and renovation.
· Assist in the design and implementation of inventory system for equipment and supplies.
· Assist with coordinating the general up-keep of the plant’s internal and external structure, such as painting, roof, and general housekeeping items.
· Assist with the coordination of the plant’s security system.
· Provides supervision for project installations.
· Document all modifications to equipment, systems and respective documentation
· Provide direction and oversight to on-site vendor and contractors.
· Coordinate Contractor activities with Operation and Maintenance Departments.
· Assist with inspections to ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations.
· Assist with the training and oversight of the plant’s safety program as it relates to on-sight contractors and vendors.
Operations Support
· Assist with security protocols at all O-AT-KA locations.
· Provide general oversight and support of Capital Project initiatives.
· Define problem, provide recommended solutions, and develop improvement project if required.
· Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Experience & Education Required:
· A 2-year Technical School degree or a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience within food manufacturing, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Solid working knowledge of plant operations, facility maintenance to include steam and ammonia, and general building and renovation construction.
Knowledge & Skills - Required:
- Must have good interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and ability to learn company specific computer systems, including maintenance CMMS. WonderWare experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Office suite of products to include Word and Excel. CMMS (computer maintenance module systems) preferred.

This position will have exposure to product and project specifications, organizational growth strategies, and O-AT-KA strategic plans. A high degree of confidentiality is required.
Management Responsibility
The Building Services Supervisor works under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager and has discretion and authority to coordinate project vendors/contractors. Provides direct supervision of maintenance utility mechanics.
Work Environment
The Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor will work cross organizationally in all facets of the O-AT-KA Plant and office environments. Must be able to see, grasp hold, walk, climb, bend, and stretch, lift up to 40 lbs. Will spend significant time in the production environment where temperatures fluctuate, floors may be wet, and noise is a constant factor.
