Responsibilities
Position Purpose
Responsible for setting molds according to production schedule, repairing molds to improve their running condition, along with working on molds that are running in machines in the production area, and assisting production department in troubleshooting mold related issues.
Position Relationships
- Report directly to Tool Room Manager
- Interacts with Production Management, Quality Control, and Shift Supervisors
Position Hours
- Schedule assigned by Tool Room Manager
- Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required
Essential Responsibilities
- Repair and rebuild molds
- Make components and changes on existing components.
- Clean molds and record any problems that are encountered with the mold.
- Make sure all molds are ready to be set according to production schedule.
- Change mold according to the mold setting and removal procedures
- Clean machine after mold change and ensure that all mold setting areas are straightened and clean.
- Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)
- Responsible for injection mold Changeovers at the press
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Specific Requirements
- Must be Certified Journeyman Tool Maker.
- 3+ years experience repairing, setting and cleaning molds.
- Ability to fabricate parts.
- Can troubleshoot and correct complex mold issues.
- Strong mechanical ability and knowledgeable in the use of grinders, welders, shot blasters, drill press and other equipment found within the Tool Room
- Ability to work well in a team environment;
PPE Required - Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes, hairnet, beardnet (if employee has chin hair greater than 1/8 inch).
Authorities
- Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management
- Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard
- Have production shut down to make any necessary tooling repairs that are deemed necessary or could affect the quality of the product being produced
Position Requirement
- Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Ability to manipulate tools/parts.
- Mechanical aptitude -Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics.
- Forklift certification - The ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner consistent with OSHA standards
- Information Ordering - The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
- Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Corrected vision of 20/30.
- Extent Flexibility - The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
- Wrist-Finger Speed - The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Multilimbed Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion. Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection). Ability to occasionally climb ladders safely and without Ability to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.
- Lifting Requirements - Ability to lift 50 pounds over head to total height of six feet
- Walking/Standing-Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.
