Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a Therapist III Senior Lead to plan and deliver occupational therapy treatment utilization comprehensive and specialized approaches; to provide clinical guidance to rehabilitation staff; to co-coordinate the delivery of PSR services through operational management of Webb, Harvest, and Layman Learning Centers; document 10-14 hours of active treatment per week as evidenced by approved schedule; ensure that programs are age appropriate and activities of subordinate staff are integrated with their assigned treatment team; and demonstrate competency as a facilitator for all areas of PSR programming as evidenced by observations by supervisor.
The Therapist III Senior Lead will produce written evidence that the clinical process has been carried out (including assessments, goals/objectives, etc.); assist with HOPS data collection and management as required/needed for daily PSR operations; works with designated PSR area coordinators, support staff, and peer service chiefs to assure a therapeutic milieu in each mall; assist in management of environmental and logistical issues in PSR areas such as room, assignments, provisions of equipment and supplies, and other needs of service chiefs and PSR area coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications

- extensive clinical and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation programming service area supervision
- graduation from a program in occupational therapy that is accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- maintain current licensure to practice occupational therapy in the state of Virginia as specified for licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine
- demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy
- ability to evaluate and interpret quantitative and qualitative data related to the client's performance in ADLs, IADLS, sleep and rest, work, play/leisure, and social participation using standardized and non-standardized procedures
- knowledge of occupational therapy practices for medical, physical/somatic, intellectual, learning, and other non-psychiatric disabling conditions
- knowledge of select occupational therapy theories, frames of references, and intervention modules to design and deliver occupational therapy services to promote mental health and intervene with the presence of psychiatric conditions
- ability to plan/implement client-centered psychosocial groups to enhance engagement in occupations
- ability to collaborate with other disciplines to establish, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized treatment plans
- ability to establish therapeutic rapport with clients
