SEASONAL PRODUCTION MANAGER

Seasonal Salaried

Immediate Supervisor(s): Producing Artistic DIrector

Schedule: TBD

Salary: $900-$950/week, DOE (40 hours)

Housing (if needed): Information available upon request

Start Date: May 6

End Date: August 16

STATEMENT OF JOB:

The Production Manager is responsible for all of the production elements for each production, and will oversee tech-ing, building, installing, and striking scenery for the Mainstage and KIDDSTUFF Seasons. While we will seriously consider all applications, we are especially seeking Ithaca-based technical, production, and artistic staff.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

● Supervising of all technical staff including all members of scenery, props, paint, costumes, sound, electrics, stage management, and production management

● Serve as liaison between the production and administrative departments

● Collaborate with directors and designers to ensure the artistic vision of each production works within the available resources of time and budget

● Run and schedule all production related meetings including design presentations and production meeting.

● Monitor the progress of each department throughout the production process on each show.

● Prepare, monitor, report on annual production budgets

● Maintain communication between all departments for each production

● Collaborate on the creation and management of production calendar, including rehearsals, meetings, deadlines, etc

● Oversee onboarding of all technical and production staff.

● Advise on capital purchases and upgrades.

● Maintain inventory of all equipment.

● Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

● Ability to give clear and concise instruction to employees of varying skill levels

● Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and sense of humor in times of stress

● Demonstrate strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills

● Experience with budgeting and scheduling

● Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges

● Excellent computer, accounting and math skills

● Strong understanding of each technical department

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Maturity and understanding of the artistic process and excellent interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, communication and leadership skills.

● Knowledge and experience with theatrical unions (AEA, USA)

● Knowledge of fire prevention (sprinklers, alarms, extinguishers), HVAC, electrical, and plumbing building systems.

● Valid driver’s license preferred

● Knowledge of industry and OSHA standard safety practices

● Ability to understand the work and needs of the department, anticipate potential problems and propose timely solutions

● Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges; Ability to brainstorm ideas in a group setting.
