The Coolest Part Time Job Ever - Game Master

How ‘bout we skip right ahead to the meat and potatoes? Our small business is located in Gig Harbor, WA. We are biased — but we are pretty sure we are The Coolest place to work for, ever. And we really believe that we are changing the way people experience escape rooms, one escape experience at a time. (you will see what we mean when you check out our website!). Honestly, the job is not all unicorns and gumdrops— there is some good news and there is some bad news.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first:

This is not a SUMMER job. Due to the amount of training we ask that you only apply if you can dedicate at least 9 months to a year with our company. Still sound good? Then keep reading!

You won’t get rich at this job. The pay is $15.000 an hour. It can be some extra spending money, for sure. However, if you are seeking a job to support a household then this is no longer the ”coolest” Part Time Job Ever, it is now the “worst” Part Time Job Ever. There is opportunity for advancement for sure and raises however, this job posting is not about that.

Now let’s talk about the good stuff:

The work is fun, fresh and dynamic. You will be working with some amazing people and the owners of this business as well. They really do build each escape experience and they are very involved with all three locations.

We aren’t big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first go around.

The hours are semi flexible however, weekends are mandatory. We will work with your schedule to get a routine that works for you if we can.

You will experience things and make decisions that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do. You will get to have fun, be creative, and enjoy your work. You will laugh, laugh some more, and meet amazing customers daily.

After your 90 day probation you start earning paid time off and it goes up every year. We also give raises.

You don’t need to be skilled at video games or hula hooping or bowling. If you're great at puzzles and escaping a room then your name may be bumped to the top of the list.

The owners will know you, by name and probably more than that. They care about every single person in our work family.

For most of the year, we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (during the summer we'll be open on Mondays). Hours are subject to change, but we do our best to give our team two consecutive days off in a row as much as possible.

Now, let’s talk about the job requirements:

You need to be the type person who gets joy out of getting things done. Every day, you will need to get a list of things done and clean....did I mention clean? We pride ourselves on how clean our Escape Experiences are. You will be required to do Fun stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff.

You will be on the computer a lot. So, understanding how to navigate the web, and other apps will be necessary.

You need to enjoy talking with people and giving/getting direction.

You need to be a person who loves to deliver memorable and amazing experiences to other people. You need to be someone who feels good by making other people feel good. We need high energy people on our team.

The devil is in the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half- assed (we figured that one out ourselves). We need you to slow things down and get them done right. That way our customers have the best experience possible that they paid a premium for.

We want you to be meticulous in your work. If you are shy or quiet that is totally cool. We are not looking for the life of the party...all the time. However, with the guests you need to harness your inner performer and give them the fun sincere energy they deserve. We are looking for a good, fun person, who gets stuff done.

In short, your job is to watch our guests while they play our escape experiences and make sure they have a great time in the process. Your job is to have fun at work (who wants a job that isn’t fun?!?). Our business is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality.

But what we don’t expect is perfection or existing skills for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you that. We expect intelligence, energy (did we mention ENERGY), and a get it done attitude. When you have questions, you will find the answers with a quick yell down the hallway to your fellow gamemasters.

If this is a job that gets you so excited that you would even do it for free, we would totally accept that offer from you. But if you prefer compensation (and we totally get it...we prefer getting paid as well) this is what we offer: This is a Part Time, Game Master job; 18-25 hours a week. The pay is $15 an hour
