Textile Machine Operator - Weaver
This position is responsible for efficiently operating, repairing, and troubleshooting issues with weaving looms. Individuals in this role are expected to consistently meet quality and production targets.
Pay Rate:
- $17.88 per hour
- Pay raise and full benefits after training and permanent hire
Schedule:
- 12 hour day shift
- Rotation 2-3-2
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates multiple looms simultaneously in a manner that keeps pace with demand and meets acceptable production targets.
- Monitors looms continuously and makes adjustment to ensure fabric produced meets all quality and customer specifications.
- Maintains materials during product runs including changing filler bobbins and cutting thread.
- Identifies and repairs machine malfunctions and troubleshoots problems that arise including single end breaks and smashes.
- Inspects fabric to detect, flag and prevent defects and requests proper support as needed.
- Properly label and identify materials that are being processed.
- Completes all required quality checks including pick counts and by using variety of measuring devices.
- Raises quality issues and records NCRs, as required.
- Completes quality documentation such as control charts.
- Enters data into the ERP system.
- Ensures 5S and lean philosophies are practiced and sustained in daily activities.
- Keeps all equipment and work areas clean and well maintained and left in excellent condition for the next shift.
- Works in a manner that promotes a safe environment and deals with unsafe issues immediately.
- Other duties as assigned, including cross training within department and other areas of plant.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing production environment; textile experience an asset.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time and multiple priorities efficiently.
- Precise manual dexterity is required.
- Ability to speak and read instructions competently in English.
- Competent math skills particularly as related to measurement.
- Dependable, effective team player willing to cross train and take on new duties.
- Excellent attention to detail and safety.
- Must commit to the assigned work schedule and work overtime as required.
- Moving, bending, pushing, and lifting capability up to 40 lbs.
- Basic knowledge and comfortable using computers to input simple data.
- Must adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing setting
- Moderate to high noise levels at time (personalized protective equipment and testing provided)
- Continuous periods of standing and walking required.
- Considerable lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools and machines)
- May include cutting and the use of sharp tools.
