Job Summary
The Plant Operator will perform and assist in the performance of various operations and maintenance duties to ensure safe and efficient operation of the processing system and associated equipment, protection of the environment, and compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Comply with all safety, environmental, operating, and reporting policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Perform routine measurements of devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and transfer of products.
- Control, monitor, and make necessary adjustments to control systems and manually operated equipment.
- Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
- Lift hoses, bolt flanges, and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
- Sample and test materials per quality system procedures.
- Transfer materials via the use of a forklift, pallet jack, dolly, or manual movement.
- Manage overall operations including inspection and monitoring of processing unit, tanks, piping, and valves; product sampling and testing; product inventory measurement and documentation; operational and regulatory record keeping; maintaining facility security.
- Monitor the loading and unloading of products and raw materials.
- Utilize Human Machine Interface (HMI) to provide system control, equipment status, and alarm notifications revolving around the process control unit, tank farm, and truck loading rack interfaces.
- Effectively communicate within the team and between shifts; document activities, faults, and opportunities for improvements via Shift Notes, Maintenance Work Orders, shift relief meetings, etc.
- Assist Maintenance and/or other departments as required.
- Attend daily and monthly safety meetings; participate in and show proficiency (through a written exam) in general and site-specific operations and maintenance training programs.
- Organizes and prioritizes work performed to meet deadlines while maintaining flexibility to provide support for developing or unexpected needs.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a refinery, chemical processing, or industrial environment.
- Electrical and/or mechanical experience is a plus
