Job Description – Tennis Instructor
The Tennis Instructor teaches and facilitates tennis programs as directed and assists the Director of Tennis, academy owners and Lead Coach with delivering training sessions.
Essential Duties
- Provides tennis instruction to beginner through advanced level children and adults in a group or individual setting,
- Creates a welcoming, safe, and fun learning environment for the players.
- Adheres to GTA’s coaching philosophy and is willing to be mentored by lead coaches.
- Prepares courts prior to the start of play, ensuring all necessary equipment is brought to the court, and ensures the courts are tidy.
- Provides feedback on students and programs to Director of Tennis.
- Is familiar with court reservation software once given proper training
- Communicates efficiently with parents addressing any concerns in a timely manner and relaying information to Director of Tennis, Owner and/or Manager of Administration.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested
- Assists in the promotion of, as well as delivers, tennis clinics, mixers, special events and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-5 years of Tennis play experience
- 2-3 years of experience as a Tennis Instructor preferred
- USPTA or PTR Certification preferred
- Must be able to instruct clearly in English
- Must have a professional and positive attitude
- Must be able to pass USTA Safe Play
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Outgoing and engaging personality that will ensure an enjoyable and entertaining environment in a safe and professional setting
- Must play at least at a USTA level of 4.5 or above
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the game of Tennis
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Good verbal communication skills
Supervisory Responsibilities: Seasonal Staff, as needed.
Travel Demands: Possible travel required to local tournaments.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing outdoors under various weather conditions.
Pay: $30 - $45 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday, and Saturday mornings.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
