Essential Function
To provide optimal services to clients of the Kinship Navigator Program to enable them to provide the best possible living arrangements and educational opportunities for children in their custody. Screen and process cases eligible for Emergency Services assistance. To work collaboratively with the staff of the Newark Area Services to provide services and referrals for the emergent needs of clients seeking services.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. The Salvation Army reserves the right to change, reduce, or expand the duties of this position at any time. Specifically, the primary duties are:
· Organizing and maintaining complete and accurate case files, physical and electronic.
· Screen, review, and collect necessary documents to clear clients for Kinship and/or Emergency Services.
· Ensuring all client interactions are documented in physical and electronic case notes.
· Provide resource information and referrals based on needs that arise in casework.
· Conduct In-Home visits to collect documents and verify all required in-home criteria of Kinship Wraparound and Legal Guardianship are met.
· Use of personal vehicle is required to conduct home visits, marketing events, and training, and travel throughout Essex County and sometimes throughout New Jersey.
· Maintain required case information in electronic database systems (Service Point, NJ-211, and HMIS)
· Develop a plan with Kinship Caregiver families to address strengths and weaknesses, setting goals for completion within the contract year.
· Market and promote Kinship Navigator and other Salvation Army programs throughout Essex County
· Document and process Special Approval Requests on a case-by-case basis to address needs beyond the Kinship Wraparound award.
· Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field and experience with family intervention, Licensed Social Work status is preferred.
· A current and valid New Jersey State Driver’s License and properly insured vehicle
· Social Work experience of (3) years or more may be in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
· Proficient working in the Microsoft Office suite of applications

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 19 per week
