Technology Support Specialist II- SPED/PC/Web Filtering

Position Summary
As a Technology Support Specialist II, you will play a crucial role in supporting our educational technology infrastructure. This position requires knowledge in system support for various educational platforms, including but not limited to PC support, Web Filtering, and SPED applications, as well as proficiency in Apple and Jamf support. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of these systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing support to educators and students. You will act as a liaison between the buildings, SPED staff, and the technology department to support the use of assistive devices and software for students in special education.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
Assistive Technology Support
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and students to assess individual needs for assistive technology solutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain a variety of AT devices, such as screen readers, speech recognition software, communication aids, adaptive keyboards, and braille displays.
- Train students and staff on the effective use of AT devices and software
- Keep up to date with emerging assistive technologies and recommend updates or replacements as needed.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized software applications designed for students with disabilities, including Individualized Educational Program (IEP) software.
- Assist in maintaining and updating software and operating systems.
- Develop and deliver training sessions and user guides for building techs, educators and students on the supported platforms.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware and software assets, and ensure that all users have the necessary software and tools.
- Collaborate with the IT team and other departments to implement technology solutions that enhance the educational experience.
- Communicate effectively with end-users, providing timely responses and resolutions to technical issues.
- Provide technical support for general PC issues, such as hardware and software problems.
- Troubleshoot common PC issues ensuring a reliable computing environment for students and staff.
- Assist in maintaining and updating software and operating systems
- Collaborate with SPED team and DSCIT on Web filtering for SPED devices and AT devices.
- Support staff members in the use of digital tools including Apple and PC computers, tablets, peripherals, software, and web-based programs; provide professional development to special education and student services department staff regarding basic technology operation.
- Maintain all standards and procedures set in place by DSC-IT and Lakeville Area Schools.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Requires 2-year post secondary certification in related field, 1 - 3 yrs of experience, K-12 Educational experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills across diverse populations.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with district employees, students, families, and the public at large.
- Working knowledge of Assistive Technology, Apple computers, Windows computers, various tablets, and networks.
- Working knowledge of basic productivity software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software).
- Requires the ability to work independently and prioritize within a demanding environment.
- Dependable, reliable and can work independently.
- Self-motivated, energetic, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires individual transportation from site to site.
