Technology Assistant
Purpose or role of this position at Morehouse
Under general supervision of ITS management, the student employee will perform a variety of duties as necessary to support faculty, staff, and students with their use of technology and software on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide quality customer support to all users of campus technology
- Support customers over the phone and/or face-to-face
- Communicate technical information to non-technical customers, verbally and in writing
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions for a wide range of computing issues and end user issues, for both campus-owned and customer-owned systems
- Install desktop computers, software, peripherals, printers, and other technology solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic network and telecommunication issues
- Some lifting and moving of computer and network equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned

General Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and troubleshooting skills (customer service and/or tech support experience preferred)
- Self-motivated fast learner and self-starter willing to research problems and work independently
- Time management and organization skills
- Be able to lift up to 35 pounds
- Be able to pay attention to detail
- Be in good academic standing
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
- Be able to work 10-20 hours per week
Specific Qualifications
- Basic technical knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems and applications
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook configuration
- Basic hardware knowledge for personal computers and printers
- Ability to setup, instruct and troubleshoot Zoom conferencing
- Ability to review and implement solutions from documentation, user guides and knowledge base articles
- Experience working with Audio/Visual equipment is a plus
- Knowledge of networking concepts and/or VOIP phone systems is a plus
- Enrollment in Computer Science or Software Engineering majors are a plus
Position Classification & Hourly Pay Rate
Level 3 - $11.00 per hour
