JOB OPENING: Engineering & Assembly Technician
LOCATION: San Francisco, CA
Gravitas Medical, Inc. is a Medical Device start-up company developing innovative solutions to improve the way enteral nutrition is delivered. We are a dynamic, energetic company with projects ranging from the development/concept cycle through commercialization. This position would be supporting development of a smart nasogastric feeding tube and system.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs prototype and production builds (both disposable products and medical equipment), product/system testing, manufacturing fixture design support, miscellaneous quality activities, document generation and maintenance of manufacturing space and lab area.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support R&D engineering to develop, document and implement manufacturing processes
· Performs sample / prototype / clinical builds
· Performs product builds according to manufacturing process instructions (MPIs). Ability to write MPIs is a big plus.
· Performs in-process and final testing of products
· Utilizes small hand tools, calibrated instruments, measurement equipment, and test fixtures
· Performs incoming inspection to evaluate the validity of incoming materials and components against specified acceptance criteria
· Troubleshoots problems in manufacturing process and suggest potential changes/improvements
· Maintains accurate records/documentation related to quality system (lot history records, test documents), labor (e.g. timecards)
· Adheres to general safety rules, manufacturing procedures, QSR, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
· Maintains a clean, safe, and well-organized work area
· Performs other duties as required
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalency preferred
EXPERIENCE: 5 to 10 years in technician/assembly roles, Medical Device preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions (including detailed diagrams) carefully
· Ability to learn quickly and retain training instructions, train future employees
· Diligent, meticulous, and high attention to detail with regard to repetitive manufacturing tasks
· Self-motivated and independent: Ability to work and provide value without extensive instruction and guidance
· High level of hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small components
· Ability to use basic hand tools and equipment and work using a microscope
· Basic computer skills
· Experience with bonding/adhesives, catheters, medical balloons preferred
· Experience with electronics assembly (soldering and/or laser welding) preferred
· Experience with machine shop equipment (mill, bandsaw, power tools) preferred
· Light fabrication experience (fixtures, etc.) preferred
