ESS is seeking an exceptional Technical Writer/Technical Illustrator responsible for the development of various technical publications utilized by our customer base and service organization. The Technical Writer works plans, designs, writes, edits, and produces major manual works and other smaller jobs as a project team member. This individual will be responsible for exercising independent judgment to successfully execute a multiple product documents on schedule and within budget.

What you'll do at ESS

• Write and maintain technical high quality technical illustrations, documents, and manuals. Examples includes Technical Specification, Operation and Maintenance, Service & Repair, and Startup Manuals.
• Utilize engineering data (CAD models and engineering drawings), to create and maintain technical illustrations for various technical documents.
• Draft, revise, publish and maintain product documentation from original concept to design, outline, writing, editing, artwork, and final production.
• Assist in the creation of training materials and manuals by providing visual support for complex technical concepts.
• Participates in product design meetings and other product-related meetings, providing consequential input.
• Develops and maintains documentation project schedules that complement engineering project roadmaps and communicates project status on a weekly basis.
• Works with other contributors as needed and requires little supervision to successfully produce one or more major manual works and coordinate multiple simultaneous projects.
• Researches and collects data through engineering documentation, product specifications and other pertinent available source data. Interviews engineering, marketing, manufacturing, customer success, and other project team members for information.
• Expands product knowledge through continuing education in industry technology as well as the technology of the products. Maintains familiarity with customers/target audiences and their documentation needs.

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, technical illustration, technical writing, communication, or related experience.
• Proven experience as a Technical Writer and Technical Illustrator, preferably within energy, utility, heavy equipment, or engineering sector.
• Must be proficient with technical illustration tools such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Acrobat Pro and AutoCAD.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in translating technical information into visual representations.
• Experience in creating documentation using Adobe FrameMaker.
• Experience in producing high end audio/video camera equipment and related software to capture and create audio/video content.
