The Technical Writer is responsible for:

  • Creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for technical processes, products, and services across Enterprise Information Technology,
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to gather information, translating technical concepts into user-friendly documentation,
  • Ensuring accuracy and consistency across all written materials.

The Technical Writer plays a critical role in enhancing communication and understanding between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Candidates must be able to report into one of the following NYBCe locations:New York City, NY; Kansas City, Missouri; St. Paul, Minnesota; Providence , RI and Newark, DE.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Document Creation:
    • Produce high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, and process guides.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to extract and understand complex technical information.
  • Content Editing and Review:
    • Review and edit existing documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to incorporate feedback and updates into documentation.
  • Information Gathering:
    • Conduct interviews and research to gather information from technical experts and stakeholders.
    • Translate technical jargon into easily understandable and accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Document Management:
    • Organize and maintain a document repository, ensuring version control and accessibility for relevant stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with teams to update documentation in response to changes in technology or processes.
  • Style Guide Adherence:
    • Ensure consistency in writing style, formatting, and terminology across all documentation.
    • Develop and maintain documentation style guides to be used as a reference for writing standards.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with developers, engineers, and other technical professionals to understand and document complex concepts.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input and ensure the accuracy of technical content.

Education

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse documentation projects.
  • Familiarity with technical writing tools and software.
  • Agile experience preferred.

 

Experience

 

  • The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Knowledge of industry standard quality assurance and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Must be able to develop and/or revise SOPs & work instructions.
  • Acts as a liaison between end users and the Information Technology team to get an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the change in order to create requirements specification document.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, GXP regulations, including 21CFR part 11, and good documentation practices. As this position requires close customer interaction, excellent oral, written, and presentation skills are mandatory.

 

Licenses & Certifications

Professional certifications in technical writing (e.g., Certified Professional Technical Communicator - CPTC) are advantageous.

  • Ability to identify complex problems on time, decipher information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $95,000.00 p/yr to $105,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
