Overview:
The Senior Technical Writer works as part of the documentation team to create and maintain documentation that efficiently and effectively transfers knowledge to relevant audiences. The Senior Technical Writer applies technical writing best practices to design and refine documentation that supports our products and internal processes. This position plays an important role in improving the internal and external customer experience by providing clear, easy-to-understand materials to help users set up and use our products and services.
Description:
- Deliver high-quality documentation in a variety of media, including: Product manuals, Online help articles, Internal wikis, API documents
- Conform to departmental style guidelines
- Adhere to departmental processes for the development, management, and control of documentation
- Work with other departments to acquire and disseminate information in a timely manner
- Adapt to changing business needs and changing industry practices to ensure that documentation always meets the needs of the business and the audience
- Research, analyze, organize, design, and develop the presentation of technical information
- Edit documentation and other information products for non-documentation colleagues
- Effectively manage small to medium documentation projects working with multiple stakeholders, and subject matter experts to deliver high quality documentation on time
- Review new developments in technical writing and recommend new software or style updates as needed
- Pursue job/career-related learning

Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Computing, Technical Writing, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
- In depth understanding of the documentation lifecycle
- Structured approach to documentation planning and design
- Familiarity with common web technologies
- High level of writing proficiency
- Ability to analyze and organize complex material
- Adapt easily to new technologies, methodologies, and writing techniques; advocates for change when necessary
- Strong ability to successfully manage concurrent deliverables on time and with quality within fast-paced environment and under deadlines
- High level of competence with MS Office and Adobe FrameMaker
- Experience of mentoring and developing junior Technical Writers
- Good knowledge of industry style guides such as: Microsoft Manual of Style and Chicago Manual of Style
- High level understanding of writing Plain English for an international audience
- Experience of writing detailed documentation for hardware, software, and APIs
- Experience of managing small to medium sized documentation projects and managing the deliverables of other writers within the confines of the projects
- Experience with technical writing tools such as: Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe CC, Document Management Systems, Content Management Systems, and Wikis
- Experience in a software development or payment industry environment
